Tourist Farm

Rivermist Alpacas also operates as a tourist farm and is open to the public between April-Christmas, Thursday-Sunday, 10am-4pm.

Whether you are interested in alpaca and want to learn something about them, or you just want to see the farm animals and have a spot of morning or afternoon tea at weekends, then Rivermist has something for you.

Many first time visitors to our farm are simply curious about alpacas, others are interested in the products that are made from the alpaca fibre. Alpaca fibre is extremely fine, soft and smooth to the touch, and is 30% warmer than the same weight of merino wool. Hand spinners, weavers and commercial mills around the world are producing stylish garments from alpaca that are warmer, lighter and stronger than wool.
